Key Updates & FAQs
On Apr 1, 2024, we introduced a new learner experience and activity that CMEfy launches into. This document outlines highlights, key questions you can anticipate from your learners and resources available from us to support you through this transition.
What are the key changes in this latest release?
- CMEfy no longer asks your learners to answer "what did you learn" and "what will you do" as two separate questions.
- Instead, we guide the learner to launch directly into a reflective learning activity to build on an initial insight (their learning), capture a deeper introspection (their application) and confirm their responses (calibrate) in one single flow for 1 full credit.
- We have a new learning activity, Reflective Practice (previously ReflectCE), that is designed to support the learner's self-directed learning, while attesting clinical impact and freedom from commercial bias.
- What this means is that learners will be asked to quickly self-attest (via a short survey prior to claiming certificates) their learning impact, lack of commercial bias and other aspects that accreditation looks at to ensure that their reflections were truly career-enhancing.
- Learners will have access to older certificates and credits to download indefinitely to all learners.
- A smarter reflection engine that brings support for instant feedback, identifying personal objectives from their reflections and a stronger alignment to the clinicians reflective journey.
- These enhancements opens up our activity to more credentials (Case Managers and Social Workers) as well as data/tools to support managers, CME/CE reimbursements and more.
Why were these changes made?
Every quarter, we meet with accreditation partners, education leaders and review the robustness of our reflection platform. In 2023, we identified three key opportunities / gaps leading to these changes:
- Reflective Credit expansion: As increasing number of boards and international bodies recognize our Reflective Learning platform and AI, we want to ensure our learners can gain the most out of their reflective journey. Our core mission is to reward attention, not attendance; and these platform and activity changes give our learners more control to learn, reflect and earn anytime and anywhere clinical insight is sparked!
- Poor reflection quality → Credit reversals: A poor reflection can come back to haunt learners during annual appraisals / credit submission processes. We have made major updates to the reflection flow to ensure the learners were reflecting and evaluating in a meaningful and clinically-relevant manner, while getting real-time feedback on the quality of their reflection.
- Avoiding Misuse: CMEfy does not accredit content or your experience. Our updates signify a clearer and more direct distinction between the learning spark (CMEfy link) and the actual accredited learning activity (the reflection experience). Misrepresentation of this flow can draw audit and overhead costs from accreditors.
CMEfy doesn't offer credit for attending, watching or consuming content. Instead, CME has always been a spark into a reflective learning process that is 100% learner-initiated. To continue championing for our clinician learners, we always strive to enhance and simplify the learning experience, while keeping in full compliance with accreditation standards.
